A Community Survey
and Focus Groups were conducted by Blair & Associates.
The results of the recently completed Community Survey and Focus Group
Sessions were
significant.
The Focus Groups
were positively oriented towards a Cultural Arts Program. The groups
cautioned against
neglecting the Folk Art and Crafts, but
they leaned toward the fine and performing arts while encouraging the
FCAC to support and promote all groups involved in Folk Arts and Crafts.
All groups professed an affiliation with the Arts and strongly support
the “idea” of a Cultural Arts Program. And, every group currently
involved in the Arts - painting, crafts, dance, theater, woodcarving,
quilting, etc. expressed a strong desire for improved facilities when
possible.
There is very strong community support for an Arts Program and for an
Arts Center. People would like to have and experience the advantages
of an Arts Program sooner rather than later.
Strategic Planning needs to be done. It is essential that the Board
reach a consensus on the strategic issues before proceeding further with
Action Plans.
The outcome of the Strategic Planning program will be a fully documented
Strategic Plan with the strategic decisions and directions established
by the Board. This Strategic Plan will become the Master Plan.
All future decisions should be made within the context of the Strategic
Plan.
